Rated 3 out of 5 by Good, but. . . . I bought 2 of these for my 3 and 4 1/2 year olds for Christmas 2012. They loved them!! But we were changing batteries daily - until we paid way too much for the rechargeable battery packs. With the new battery packs these were awesome tablets - until my then 5 year old dropped hers. Not thrown, not dropped while running, just dropped from the height of a 5 year old. The screen cracked and would no longer operate. We replaced it because we had invested in so many apps that the kids loved. Less than a year later -another cracked screen! DEFINITELY NOT DESIGNED "kid tough". At least the price is only half as much as we originally paid. 06/24/2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love this but could use some improvement... We love this product. My daughter is quite young - 18 months - but she loves having her own device like her older siblings. We love just about everything about the LeapPad 2....except the placement of the POWER & VOLUME buttons. It would be so much nicer to have those on the side or back of the device so it's not constantly being turned off by accident (even by me - not just the kids). Free apps would be awesome as well - the device is not cheap and every little thing you put on it adds to the cost. This product is sturdy which we love, also great you sell extra styluses but selling the cord to the stylus would be great as well. 01/24/2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Snug I was kind of surprised at how stiff the material was for the gel skin, but I am actually thankful for this because my son is obsessed with taking the gel skin off my phone, but this won't budge for him (so now he can't get to the battery compartment if he tried!) It does add that cushion incase your kid drops it on a hard surface. My son has already dropped his Leappad2 in a parking lot and it is still in perfect condition! MY SUGGESTIONS TO LEAPFROG: wish this came in more colors and maybe make the material just a smidge more pliable! It is very difficult getting to the battery compartment. 01/26/2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Leappad gel skin is a nice protector I like that this allows for a little bit of cushioning for the occasional drop, and it covers where the batteries go, so my child won't be playing with that part (which she likes to do). It is a little snug going on, which is probably a good thing, but it makes it a little challenging to get it on and off for battery changes. And with the gel skin on, the Leappad is just a little bulky to fit into the case (which we use anyway). It's also just a little bit sticky (that's not quite the right word) so it is easy for my child to keep a good grip, instead of it slipping out of her hands. 12/21/2012
