Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the money Extended break in period due to hot spots and rubbing that never changed. Worn 3 days a week (alternating boots due to rubbing) and the inside liner at the heal has already worn away and torn. These should be $39 at big five, not over $100. Paying $10-$15 to return boots and try another size to find something that fits is ridiculous. If a store wanted to charge you $10 to try another size we wouldn't shop there would we?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like the Boot, But..... I have purchased 3 pair of the Magnum waterproof boots. Two of which are the side zip and one lace-ups. The problem with both side zip pairs has been seperation of the soles from the boot. I am a State of Florida Nuisance Alligator Trapping Agent and frequently end up in wet environments and rough terrain and need to depend on a good pair of boots to handle the job. The company was good in replacing my second pair of side zips. But now less than 6 months later with the replacement pair, the sole are seperating again. Wouldn't mind an upgrade if the company would work with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I originally bought this particular boot for my work as police/special forces on film sets (I have been trained to provide convincing levels of acting in such roles by ex-military individuals). In between such work, I wore them for casual wear during winter and summer months because of their levels of comfort, be it a trip to classes at university, or visiting the local mall. Should I be accepted into local volunteer law enforcement, I will use them for that. I occasionally train fitness by jogging using the Viper Pro boots in preparation for the possibility of joining local law enforcement. In December 2016, I decided to climb the mountain at the edge of my town: the Helderberg located in the Cape Town region of South Africa. It is by no means a special mountain of any kind, but it was my first ever hike with narrow paths, plenty of dust and steep inclines on both rock and dirt plus a very steep incline before the summit requiring big steps and an unkind risk of falling off with bad results should it so happen. Lacking any kind of proper hiking boot, and not willing to use running shoes/trail running shoes, I decided to put the Viper Pro to the test. I was very impressed by the Viper Pro Side Zip. It was far more sturdy than I expected a boot to provide, it gripped every surface VERY well, didn't slip once and despite descending in midday heat of 32 degrees Celsius and a very light occasional breeze, my feet didn't sweat or feel uncomfortable in the least. The boots absorbed impacts on steep declines at a brisk jog admirably. Walking was easy and brisk. Evidence of the hike was limited to two or three scuffs on the left boot toe area. As far as water resistance goes (as I tested by submerging them up to the upper laces in a bucket of water afterwards before cleaning), the water poured through the seam on the outside ankle padding area above the ankle. Below that the water was kept out. Slipping the boot on easily and comfortably and off is a great bonus due to the zip. I intend to purchase a military category boot as it would be more suitable for such activities in a tan colour, but for a police category boot, I would climb a mountain again with the Viper Pro.
