Rated 4 out of 5Â by craftmom2012 nice-looking toaster oven
This toaster oven is quite a bit larger than my previous toaster oven and a lot harder to use. I liked the previous model I owned which had a one-touch button for toast. This one requires you to set three knobs to the toast setting and it takes quite a bit longer to toast the bread than my other model. It also takes up quite a bit of counter space in my already cramped kitchen. I was disappointed as other reviewers said it didn't take up much space. I guess all things are relative. It looks very nice and does a good job, just slower than I'd like. Maybe I'll have to get a regular toaster as well, but that kinda defeats the purpose.

We love this toaster oven because it is exactly what we were looking for. We searched high and low for a toaster oven for toasting bread and cooking/re-heating foods. Most toaster ovens we found took up WAY too much counter space, unnecessarily duplicated features of our oven and/or convention microwave, and were far more expensive. This Black & Decker toaster oven totally met our more simple needs. It toasts and heats quickly and doesn't have the annoying confection fan noise of our previous toaster oven. The other reviewers' critical comments were accurate - the print on the knobs is far too small (although there are larger icons with descriptions printed on the oven glass that are quite helpful) and there are 3 knobs to deal with that take a small amount of force to turn (but this also gives you more control over what is going on). Shoppers should keep in mind that this is very much your classic toaster oven. It has a ticking, analog dial that nicely times how long the toaster runs (or set it to "stay on" to avoid the old-school tick-tock noise). It isn't a set-and-forget-it product like more expensive digital models. We were worried that the 1500 watts of power wouldn't be hot enough, but that hasn't been a problem at all. Small downsides include an "electrical smell" the first time we used it (easily removed by running it for a couple of minutes and then cleaning it out) and the fact that the casing gets hot when it is operating . One of the greatest features of this product is that it takes up far less space than other toaster ovens we've seen, yet it still fits a baking dish for 2-4 people. This toaster oven includes one rack (some people might want two) with two convenient shelf positions. The rack has it's own (removable) drip pan. There is also a crumb tray that is reasonably easy to remove (but not while hot). We saw other toaster ovens with fancier, more convenient crumb trays, but they cost 2 to 6 times more than this toaster oven. If you want a complicated, fancy oven, then this is not the item for you. But if you want a toaster oven that can reliably toast as well as re-heat or cook dishes, then you've just found an inexpensive, great product. Like any toaster, you'll need to get used to what "knob time" fits your preference - don't leave this or any other toaster unsupervised the first few times you use it. After that, you should be very satisfied with this purchase decision!

This toaster oven was not as big as the description said it was. Much smaller, and did not accomodate the items I had purchased it for.
