Rated 5 out of 5 by What took me so long? I was a working Mom for all my life, and for my kitchen needs I used a hand mixer. Upon retirement I found extra time to spend doing my favorite pastime, cooking and baking. I bought myself a Kitchenaide stand mixer, my first. And I fell in love. I'm a snowbird, so I went out and bought another one to use when I'm in Florida. What a great help it is! My recipes turn out much better. And it frees me up to prepare other parts of the recipe while it mixes or blends, or kneads the dough. I should have bought one much earlier in my lifetime. But it's never too late. 10/09/2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love at first sight! I have been eyeing these mixers since I bought my sister in law one 5 years ago for Christmas. I've always used a hand held mixer, but they always broke so easily. My last one broke back in February and I just stopped baking. The hubby bought me the Kitchenaid mixer for Mother's Day and I am in love!! Not only has it cut down my mixing time, but everything gets mixed evenly! No more lumps and clumps! All my cookies come out smooth! I bake every chance I get now. (In between sewing, my other hobby!) In fact I just baked a batch of cookies for the Boy Scouts yesterday! Thank you so much! 09/02/2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Satisfactory Mixer I was given this mixer as a wedding gift and have used it several times. The first time I used it, it struggled a bit with pizza dough. Using the dough hook on speed 2, the motor could not keep a consistent speed. The hook seemed to be getting stuck in the dough. I read online that using this machine on a low speed with thick doughs can strip the gears - so make sure you mix your dough on speed 4 or up! Beside that, the speed control lever on the side is a bit stiff and difficult to move, which sometimes leads to pulling it up to way too high resulting in a floury mess! I expect that this lever will "break in" over time. Overall, this model is satisfactory, but I may recommend springing for one of the more sophisticated models - they have some nice perks! I grew up using my parents' kitchenaid mixer and will love them forever. 10/03/2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The bar is set high, and it lives up to that This mixer lives up to it's history of being the most outstanding home mixer. I make everything with it... all baked goods, mashed potatoes, etc. I usually make a loaf of bread each week for myself. I have attempted making enough dough for two loaves, which I feel it should be able to handle as it only takes up a 1/3 to a half of the bowl, but it does seem to struggle a tiny bit with that amount. That's literally the only thing I've not been blown away by. Otherwise I love, love, love my mixer! 09/28/2014
