Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as Expected Bought this trash can to match stainless appliances in the kitchen of the new home we were moving into. It looks good, but doesn't perform as well as I had expected. The first lid was defective. We had to have the company ship us another one. After finally getting a response from the company, they reluctantly agreed to send us another lid (seemed they didn't believe us that it didn't work at all). Company rep told me that for kohls.com customers, they only provide "service" for 30 days after purchase. I didn't take it out of the box to try it for about 40 days after purchase (moving). I didn't understand the 30 day rule, as the trash can has a three year warranty and the warranty clearly states "Do not return to store". Now, having a new lid, the sensor works, about half the time. It's finicky about how you approach it and sometimes opens, sometimes doesn't. Also, if you are scraping a plate or have a lot to put into the can, the sensor doesn't realize that you are still there, and the lid closes on your hand. It is supposed to be wide enough to fit a pizza box into it, but you would have to fold the box a couple times to fit into the opening. In retrospect, I wish I would have just returned the defective can to Kohls and purchased a step-open trash can in stainless. This can is very expensive for what it does. I guess the only thing that I have to say about it that is favorable is that it looks good.
