Rated 1 out of 5 by stopped working I purchased this coffee maker back in December 2012 and yesterday it just stopped working. I don't understand how the machine can stop working after only four months. I am definitely going to look for reimbursement for this as I feel this is unacceptable for a machine that cost this much to last only four months 04/22/2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor carafe, nice coffee maker This was a gift 12/25/13, as a replacement for a very well use older Krups model. It does make a good cup of coffee. The carafe does not have a spout, it is a round bowl with a plastic ring around the top, this plastic ring has a spout but, the inset of the glass bowl, stops the last bit of water from poring out. (okay, a little bit of water left behind...just drops really...1 or 1/2 teaspoon maybe). The access lid, (for inserting coffee and poring water) pops up at the push of a button. seams very sturdy and closes with a solid sound. The lid opens to a 90 degree angle, the water is poured into a screened opening at the back right corner. This is not too hard, and would not be a problem IF the carafe had a spout and IF the carafe lid stayed in place. The lid is permanently attached to the carafe, hinged at the handle, the lid swings out and away from the pot when trying to over tilt and get all of the water out. As I type this, I wonder "how will this fit into a dishwasher"? After the coffee is brewed (and this machine does make a nice cup), the carafe lid catches condensation (as I'm certain most do). You go to pour a second cup, and due to the lack of a spout, (the spout is part of the lid attachment) what you get is all of the condensed steam (now water droplets) then your coffee. I have seen some replacement carafes (not from Krups) with a proper spout for $10.00 or less. So I can correct my major concern with a small additional purchase. Given a desire to rearrange all of my counter top appliances I might find a placement for the coffee maker that makes pouring in the water ideal. Currently it sits with a counter top microwave on the left, a refrigerator on the right. I think if the right side of the coffee maker was unobstructed I could reduce the water filling issues... of course will need a new carafe with a spout for 100% resolution. Nice coffee maker, poor carafe. 01/06/2014
