Rated 5 out of 5Â by Emma22 A Must Have For Every Cook
This saute pan is a definite necessity in any kitchen for any cook. It is constructed with high quality cast iron features, the blue is gorgeous--a vibrant and deep cobalt blue. This pan is great for everything from browning meats, creating sauces, and excellent for dishes such as arroz con pollo! It features a wide base and it is just deep enough to cook meatballs in or any other simmered meat, chicken, vegetable, or fish dish. When simmered on low / medium heat I have never had an issue with burning or overcooking. If you only have the 5 basic pans that every chef reccommends--this is 1 of them to keep for life.

I hesitated about keeping this beautiful pot due to its heaviness, but the more I looked at it sitting out on my table while I was deciding, the more I couldn't part with it , so I seasoned the exposed cast iron rims and used it for the first time. Loved it! This is the first cast iron piece I've owned, but it is so versatile, I think it will meet all of my cooking needs.

Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of this braiser except for the weight of the pan and lid-they are heavy! That being said, I love the accessable handles, the ease of cooking and ease of cleaning. So this heavy pan now lives on my stovetop because I use it every day and love the many uses it affords (cooking veggies and sauces, braising meats, oven baking roasts, etc.). It has been grand for traditional wok type meals and its wide bottom accomodates large amounts of cut up cabbage, onions, peppers and garlic type veggies. Be prepared to use appropriate tools (I chose silicone because it is rated for up to 450 degrees) and you will be pleased with the integrity of the interior enameled surface. However, the surface does require attention to the manufacturer's instructions-so keep them close by.
