First said high action on a guitar is bad for beginners. It makes the guitar harder to learn because it is overall harder to play. The guitar has very high action and no truss rod to adjust neck relief. I lowered the action ( I have a bit of luthier experience) which is something most people wouldn't try at home, and got the guitar playable but not as low as I would like for my son to learn on. If you seriously want your child to learn guitar don't doom them from the start. Spend the extra money and buy a decent guitar that won't leave them frustrated with sore fingers.

"This is so neat!" My 12 year old daughter loves her new guitar. She has zero experience, but thanks to the free online classes that are included with the guitar, she has learned 4 songs in the last week.
It also comes with the strap and the picks.
Watch out Joan Jett, watch out Nancy Wilson, move over Sheryl Crow, my daughter is coming to town. :)

Great guitar for a beginner. Comes with cards to show chords and that has been very helpful. Sounds a little tinny, but for the money I like it.

I bought this guitar for my 9-year-old son and couldn't be happier. While I was awaiting this shipment, I saw some different First Act guitars at others stores. Those guitars were cheap-looking, so I was nervous about this purchase. My son absolutely LOVES this and it was one of the highlights of his Christmas. And, I LOVE that he doesn't play video games as much.
