First the good..This slow cooker performs flawlessly. We have cooked 7 meals in it ranging from stews/soups to meat and/or casserole type dishes. All came out perfectly. The cooker is programmable and you can set it in hours or 30 minute increment cooking times if you so desire and will automatically go to the warm setting when finished. I really like this cooker and it looks very nice on my counter matching our other black appliances. The lid locks down if you need to transport it which is nice.
Now the bad..Crock Pot's quality control is another issue. Upon opening the box (which was factory sealed btw- and not a return) and taking it out of the plastic bag it was in, there were several "sweat stains" and fingerprints all over it from the person or people who put it together! In addition to that, there were a few scratches here and there all very minor on the exterior and one that was more noticeable on one of the control pad buttons. The black paint is also very thinly applied and you can actually start to see the gray metal coming through on one side in a couple places. The first time we used it, a small crack appeared from under the lid handle about an inch which could not be felt just seen. Apparently the lid handle was tightened too much to the glass lid during the manufacturing process as it is held on with one phillips screw. To their credit, Crock Pot Chat C/S rep immediately sent us another lid. I just about returned it for these reasons but glad I kept it as it cooks so well. Crock Pot definitely needs to work on their quality control however. We look foward to using the cooker in the coming months as fall and winter approaches. It certainly will be a test to see how well our Crock Pot holds up. I gave it five stars for it's excellent cooking ability and definitely recommend it. I just suggest that you examine yours carefully when you get it to be sure you haven't gotten a "less than perfect" example. You paid for a brand new undamaged item and that's what you should expect.

This is a good programmable slow cooker. My one complaint is that the lid latch broke on my first attempt to latch it. Crock Pot said they could replace the lid but the replacement wouldn't have the latches. That defeats the purpose; one reason I bought this model was for the latchable lid for travel. When I asked why they wouldn't replace the broken lid with the same type of lid that came with the product, they said "we just don't." So beware if you purchase this slow cooker; if part of it breaks (even due to poor craftsmanship) it may not be replaced with an equivalent part.

I was looking to upgrade my current crock pot and this works perfect. Large enough for a good size roast and tons of potatoes and carrots.

My complaint about slow cookers in recent years is that the food is done way too fast. After using my new Crock-Pot for the first time, I contacted the company about this. The person I spoke with was very helpful, and explained that because of burning and scorching, slow cookers are now made differently, and yes, they cook the food faster. The temps she gave me for low and high were not very different. I have used mine twice now, and I'm experimenting with slow and warm to get the effect that I would like. This one switches to warm after the timed low or high settings are complete. Other than that, it is a very nice, large unit.
