This is a great and educational toy and my daughter loved playing with it but the sounds are so annoying! It is so hard to hear what kind of animal it is supposed to sound like because there is a strange grating noise that comes out at the same time, and it isn't the batteries. And it goes off by itself at all times during day and night, with or without the puzzle pieces in the slots. It is so annoying and terrifying at times during the night!! I guess I could take the batteries out everytime she is done playing but that would be a hassle. I have bought two toys from this company and both have been just a little dissapointing.

This seemed like a great idea, but there were two big problems with the implementation. First, the sound quality is poor, at least in ours, and the noises made do not sound like the animals. Second, sounds are triggered by a photoreceptor (light sensor). Consequently, if the puzzle has not been completed and the room gets darker, either because of reduced sunlight or because we turn off the lights, we start hearing animal noises. Actually, this part is kind of funny, but could become an annoyance, wake a light sleeper, etc.

My daughter was given 3 sound puzzles for Christmas and the sound doesn't work properly. I went out and BOUGHT and put in 2 AAA batteries since they were not included. Sometimes the sounds will go off for a different animal or don't work at all. I like how my daughter can use the puzzle to learn animal names. But am Not happy with this expensive educational puzzle since it won't make sounds with the batteries in. How can my daughter learn when the cow makes noise for the cat?

I am an occupational therapist in the school setting. I love these puzzles and the reinforcement/motivation they give special needs children for so many reasons. The only wish I have is that when the attention of a child is difficult to maintain, sometimes they put the pieces over the wrong spot and the sound is reinforcing still. I wish it could be where the right piece has to interact only with the right hole in order to make the sound work. Otherwise I love these puzzles!
